Cheongju Heungdeok Police Station have arrested a 35-year-old man who allegedly posed as an agent from the National Security Agency to deceive his classmates.
The accused, identified by his surname Lee, approached to one of his classmates and said that he is an agent from NSA.
After buying his trust, the swindler persuaded his friend to make an investment in the Daegu English Village project.
Lee promised that there will be other benefits, including participating in other projects. The victim paid Lee a “commission fee” about 140 times, adding up to $100,000.
However, when the colleague visited the site of the project, he found out that the business never existed.
The victim told reports that Lee was fluent in English and knew so much about NSA that he did not doubt it.
Meanwhile, Lee is still maintaining that he really is an NSA agent, police said.

대구 영어마을이 조성되는 현장에 찾아간 B씨는 사업이 아예 진행조차 되지 않았다는 것을 뒤늦게 깨닫고 A씨를 경찰에 신고했다.
B씨는 A씨가 영어에 능통한 데다 NSA관련 정보를 많이 알고 있어 속을 수밖에 없었다고 전했다.
A씨는 경찰에서 “나는 미국 NSA요원이 맞다”고 주장하는 것으로 알려졌다.
