Koo tells staff to ceaselessly search for new opportunities

LG Group chairman Koo Bon-moo touted the importance of creation and innovation, as the single most effective way to lead the market, the Seoul-based company said Thursday.

“Constantly creating new things is the only way we can lead the markets,” Koo said at LG’s 19th session of the company’s gathering to spearhead innovative business held May 31-June 1 at LG Academy, the company’s training institute.

More specifically, the chairman called on LG employees to remember that they must ceaselessly seek new horizons and attempt innovation at all stages of business.

To continue satisfying LG’s clients, Koo said LG must seek out distinguished methods for catering to their needs and come up with and share innovative ideas for customer satisfaction.

Under the motto “always on your side,” LG has traditionally been recognized as one of the most customer-focused companies in the nation.

Up to 1,300 top brass and employees of LG affiliates gathered this week for the session to help bolster morale at one of South Korea’s top industry groups.

LG Group vice chairman Kang Yu-sig, LG Electronics vice chairman Koo Bon-joon, LG Chem vice chairman Kim Bahn-suk and LG Uplus vice chairman Lee Sang-chul were among the attendees.

LG has been looking to renew its brand value and solidify its global status as a leading company with strong roots in electronics, chemicals and, now, new engines of growth to open up fresh avenues of business.

The innovation sessions at LG were first launched in 1992 with the goal of sharing insight and new business goals.

This year, LG has shifted its focus to fostering innovation to create and lead corporate trends, company officials said.

One of the main discussions involved strategies for tapping into the Chinese market and how to lead an IT revolution, with a target year of 2015.

LG also selected employees who have led innovative business solutions to lecture and share their ideas with the entire LG team.

LG Uplus, as the first local mobile carrier to jump into social networking services, talked about departing from traditional mobile services and utilizing SNS.

LG Group also awarded 15 groups of employees for their efforts in innovation, such as rebranding and technological breakthroughs.
