Dog lovers in Daegu are invited to join a new dog walking club based in the city.

The Korean Animal Protection Society has been holding monthly dog walks where animal lovers can give themselves and abandoned pets some exercise. Now, KAPS is setting up a more regular volunteer event to help the dogs kept at the KAPS Daegu Dog Shelter in Daemyoung.

Emma Thompson, Volunteer Coordinator for KAPS and organizer of the new KAPS: Daegu Dog Walking Club said: “This involves volunteering regularly with KAPS and helping our dogs become more adoptable.

“Interested people will meet and plan visits to the shelter so that groups of dogs can be exercised, groomed and trained. This group will mainly work on weekends but if there is interest weekday meets may develop. If you are interested in following a career in any animal related area in the future this would be fantastic experience for you.”

The animal shelter is also looking for experienced groomers to help out.

“Many of our animals been on the streets and have very bad hair-styles or are dirty,” Thompson said. “We are looking for people to help wash, clip and brush every breed of dog, though mostly small.”

The monthly doggie outings will continue for anyone who wants to volunteer, you can find the dates of events at the KAPS Facebook page: www.facebook.com/KAPSAnimals.
