Man smashes cars to show hatred for rich

Police are investigating a 29-year-old man who smashed luxury cars in Daejeon to show his contempt for the rich.

The man, identified by his surname Cho, smashed windows and mirrors of some 15 expensive domestic and imported vehicles in an underground parking lot.

Before doing so, he beat a Chinese student without provocation.

“Imported cars are pie in the sky for poor people. I hate the rich,” he told police during interrogation.

대전둔산경찰서는 31일 외제차 등 고급 승용차만 골라 부수고 행인을 아무 이유없이 폭행한 혐의(재물손괴 등)로 조모(30)씨에 대해 구속영장을 신청했다.

경찰에 따르면 조씨는 30일 오후 9시께 대전시 유성구 노은동 한 아파트 지하주차장에서 외제차와 국산 고급승용차 등 차량 15대의 앞•뒤 유리창과 보닛, 백미러 등을 주먹과 발로 차 깨고 부순 혐의를 받고 있다.

조씨는 또 범행 직전 이 아파트 현관 입구에서 지나가던 중국인 유학생 H(21)씨의 얼굴을 아무런 이유 없이 수차례 때려 상처를 입힌 혐의도 받고 있다.

경찰은 조씨가 “외제차는 서민들에게는 그림의 떡이다. 나는 잘사는 놈들이 싫다”고 진술했다고 전했다.
