The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission said Friday that its online portal on civil complaints and proposals, “e-People,” had won a United Nations Public Service Award.

On June 23, U.N. Public Service Day on June 23, the U.N. honors creative and innovative administrative achievements every year.

The commission had entered the “e-People system, knowledge management for people’s voice” in the category of “advancing knowledge management in government,” and was told it had won on April 30.

The panel says that e-People is an integrated website (www.epeople.go.kr) that deals with civil complaints and proposals to central and provincial governments and public organizations. It is utilized as a venue for free and open discussion. About 100,000 people visit the portal daily.

The commission analyzes some 800,000 complaints filed through the portal to identify problems and improve related systems.

“We will offer unstinted cooperation and support to developing countries with a great interest in e-People, and help them adopt our process for resolving civil complaints,” an official of the commission said.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from June 20-23.

The portal had been cited as the Online Politics Trophy Top 10 at the World eGov Forum 2006 and the Best Demonstration Stand Award at the eChallenges 2008.
