Florida police have arrested a man for making a phony 911 call to avoid inspection after driving with suspended license, according to a report Wednesday.
Jonathan Paul Rorech, 31, was pulled over for driving at 45 mph (72km/h) in a 30 mph (40 km/h) zone at 1 a.m. He first told an officer that his driver’s license was at home.
However, when the officer went back to the patrol car to search for the data, he found out that the man’s license did not exist.
Soon, the police also received a report of shots fired nearby with “one subject on the ground.” He decided to let Rorech go to check the shooting incident.
Upon arrival at the site, however, the deputy discovered that there had been no shooting. Suspicious of the 911 call, he eventually confirmed Rorech’s voice on the recording.
Police arrested Rorech at his home shortly thereafter, about an hour and half after the initial pull over. Rorech was charged for making a false 9ll call and for driving without valid license, according to Naples Daily News.
