A Spanish family court has ordered a 25-year-old man to leave home and get a job, dismissing a suit he filed against his parents for “no allowance.”
The plaintiff, whose name has not been revealed, sued his parents for cutting off his allowance of $587, according to the Think Spain.
Judge Jose Luis Utrera said that despite the soaring unemployment in Spain he is still capable of finding a job, and that the family cannot afford to care for him now that he is in his adulthood.
“Parents have no absolute or unlimited obligations to provide maintenance for their adult children -- such actions are only limited to certain circumstances,” the judge said.
However, he told the family to pay the man 200 euros ($300) for the next two years to “help with his emancipation.”
