A toddler in Florida has allegedly shot his mother by accident, his father told police.
Julia Bennet, 33, was found dead in her apartment by police who came immediately after the 911 call made by the father. They happened to be at the apartment for another case.
The couple have several children including the toddler, but were not legally married. The 2-year-old is now under the custody of Florida’s Department of Children and Families.
Police announced that the father had a concealed weapon license and the gun belonged to him.
One of the neighbors told WSVN TV that the boy was unaware that his mother was dead inside. “He didn’t know because he kept hollering ‘Mama,’” she said.
The report said that although there were no arrests, the police are investigating all possibilities.
