An Australian teacher who allegedly tied a 5-year-old boy to a chair with some skipping rope was arrested on Wednesday.

The child, who misbehaved during the class, was initially punished by having his hands tied to the back. However, as the student consistently became disruptive, the teacher than again tied his body to a chair for five minutes.

The accused was a part-time who was in charge of 1st and 2nd grade classes at Avonale Primary School.

The case was revealed as a teacher’s assistance reported it to police and called for Education Department to investigate the matter.

Sharyon O’Neil, Western Australia’s director general of education, said “Teachers are in a special position of trust, and so this allegation is particularly disappointing.” according to Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Eamon Ryan from Education department told the Western Australia “while the investigation is taking place, it would not be appropriate to jump to conclusions or make specific comment but allegations of this nature are very concerning”

Last year in November, another teacher from Western Australia was accused for covering mouths of 9-year-old children to keep them quiet
