Rinnai Academy will hold a Korean cooking class in Seoul this Friday.

Those who attend will learn how to cook “galbi-jjim” ― braised beef short ribs in broth ― and steamed sticky rice with pumpkin.

The class will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Rinnai Cooking Academy near Exit 4 of Hongik University Station. Those wishing to take part in the 10,000 won class should first register in person at Itaewon Global Village Center before the event, at the Hannam building near Itaewon Station’s Exit 2. For more information, call: (02) 2199-8884 or e-mail itaewon@sba.seoul.kr.

In a separate program in Insa-dong, O’ngo Culinary School is offering classes for expats on Wednesdays. The classes will be offered in English or Japanese at 10 a.m. and again at 4 p.m.

Foodies first watch a chef’s demonstration before making their own dishes, and then eating what they have made. This month’s remaining classes include making “japchae” ― Korean glass noodles ― and spicy pork on March 16, dolsot bibimbap on March 23, followed by a class making dumplings and spicy noodles on March 30.

Classes cost 45,000 a person per session or 120,000 won for three sessions. You can sign up by e-mailing ongofood@ongofood.com or calling (02) 3446-1607. For more information see the Ongo website: www.ongofood.com.
