Samsung Electronics Co., the world's largest flat-screen TV maker, said Thursday it released a new line of full HD smart 3D televisions that help viewers get better access to online content and use social networking services.

The smart TV line, which comes in 46-inch and 55-inch, is part of Samsung's attempt to grab a larger share of the blooming smart TV market. Samsung aims to sell 12 million smart TVs this year.

The new line features a "smart hub" function that allows viewers to use social networking services and search online portals, Samsung said.

By using the "smart search" function, users can easily find movie and music files saved in nearby digital devices such as their mobile phones or desktop computers, according to the company.

Samsung said it also plans to launch a "3D Video-on-Demand service" starting in March which will allow viewers to gain access to full HD 3D versions of around 50 videos.

Samsung claimed more than half of the 3D TV market last year in the U.S. and Europe at 62.9 percent and 56.4 percent, respectively, according to industry data.

Samsung earlier said it expects sales of its flat-screen TVs to reach 45 million to 50 million units this year, which includes 10 million 3D TVs.
