Jealous husband kills 3, then himself

A 74-year-old Italian man went on a shooting spree -- killing two neighbors, his wife and finally himself -- apparently motivated by jealousy.

Carlo Trabona suspected his 72-year-old wife had been having an affair with one of the neighbors, who were brothers, and shot them both, the Telegraph reported Monday.

The Telegraph quoted an Italian media outlet as reporting that Trabona killed himself once the police surrounded his building.


Women still want to marry rich men, stay at home: study

A recent study shows 64 percent of British women want to marry a man who earns more money than they do and stay at home with their children, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

About 69 percent answered that they would prefer to become a stay-at-home mom if they had enough money.

The YouGov survey, conducted by the Sunday Times, asked 922 women aged 18 to 65 about their views on marriage and women’s role.

The reality matched up to what most women in the study said they prefer -- 62 percent of women said their husbands earn more than them. 16 percent earned more than their husbands while 18 percent earned the same.

However, women do not want their husbands to excel in education more than they do. Only 19 percent wanted their husbands to be better educated than they are. 62 percent wanted their other half to have the same level of education.

The result of the survey is backed by research published by Dr. Catherine Hakim of the London School of Economics showing that women’s perception toward marriage has not radically changed despite years of women’s rights movements and increased employment rates.

The report found most couples do not seek equal roles in the family where husband and wife share employment, childcare and housework.

“Research evidence consistently shows that most husbands are the main bread winners in their family and that most mothers would prefer not to have competing demands of family work and paid jobs,” said Dr. Hakim.
