Philippines begins ePassport process

Filipinos residing in Korea may now apply for the Philippine electronic passports at the embassy starting next week.

The ePassport is a highly secured and enhanced Machine Readable Passport.

In order to streamline the procedure, the embassy has already started to adopt an appointment system and courier service.

To ensure efficiency and orderly service, only 50 ePassport applications will be processed per day.

Applicants can arrange for an appointment by calling 010-9385-0535 or by e-mailing their full name -- including middle name -- date and place of birth, old passport number and mobile number in Korea to epassport@philembassy-seoul.com.

The entire process will take about six weeks and delivery for the passport can be arranged via courier service.

The cost for the new ePassports is $60.00.
