Nationwide bicycle path network to be built

The government announced Monday plans to build a nationwide network of bicycle paths by 2019, as part of a wider plan to lower carbon emissions, according to Yonhap News.

The bicycle network will span about 3,100 kilometers, a length more than seven times the Seoul-Busan expressway, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security said in a statement.

The paths will be built alongside the country`s coastlines and the Demilitarized Zone that bisects the two Koreas and run through major urban centers across the country, the ministry said.
