The entire nation will continue to be frozen under the current cold spell until Thursday, said the Korea Meteorological Administration yesterday.
The morning low today will be around minus 7 degrees Celsius in some regions and minus 3 degrees Celsius in Seoul, said KMA officials.
"The temperature is expected to resume its annual average level late this Thursday," said a KMA official. "The morning temperature will once again rise above, on Friday morning."
The lower wind chill temperature will cause people to feel even colder this week, officials said.
The sky will be clear, except in the western part of South Chungcheong Province and Jeolla Provinces, where there will be some rain or snow early in the morning. Jeju Island will also have rain in the afternoon.
Under the cold snap that hit the country over the weekend, the weather reached the coldest level this fall, at minus 4.1 degrees Celsius in Seoul yesterday.
The Daegwallyeong pass in the Taebaek Mountains, Gangwon Province, recorded minus 14.8 degrees Celsius.
The KMA issued a cold warning in part of Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Province and North Gyeongsang Province.
