The Embassy of El Salvador has opened up an account for those who want to donate money to those affected by three days of downpours that resulted in over 150 deaths.
Mud and boulders loosened by heavy rains rushed down a volcano and partly buried the town of Verapaz on Nov. 8, swallowing homes as flooding and landslides swept across El Salvador.
The President of El Salvador, Mauricio Funes Cartagena, declared a state of Emergency due to the tragedy caused by a low pressure system in the Pacific coast of El Salvador.
The low pressure system in the Pacific and the tail-end of Hurricane Ida left almost 150 people dead and 70 people missing.
Approximately 14,000 people are staying in the 132 government emergency shelters available in the most affected areas.
Over 250 homes have been completely destroyed and another 1,800 damaged.
Several Rivers burst their banks and mudslides cut roads and buried houses. Rescue workers in helicopters and boats have reached and rescued almost 200 people.
The most affected areas are San Salvador, La Libertad, San Vicente, Cuscatlan and La Paz.
