SolBridge International School of Business graduated its first four MBA students at a commencement ceremony held on Friday last week.
The business school, offering BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and MBA courses, opened in Daejeon in 2007 with a focus on Asian business and the evolving relationships in Asian economies and the rest of the world.
Four new MBAs from Indonesia, Pakistan and China have completed three months of internship with multinational companies such as Estee Lauder and DHL in Seoul. Among the four MBAs, three have signed the "MBA Oath" initiated by Harvard Business School graduates this year.
The oath is a voluntary pledge for graduating MBAs to work responsibly and ethically and provides guiding principles that would direct their future decision makings in business fields.
President Dr. John Endicott highly praised first graduates` "challenging spirit" that has led to their decision to start their academic journey at the newly-opened institute in Korea.
"Such a courageous mind of the graduates will surely carve out their future successfully," he said.
The school has 27 faculty members from eight countries, who are well-versed both in practice and theory.
The faculty, who uses English as its language of instruction, provides students with hands-on training on the various aspects of contemporary business practice supplemented with ample experience in various fields ranging from telecommunications, corporate governance, science and technology, marketing and management.
With the school`s close ties to industries, governments and other universities from all around the world, the school ensures students are exposed to valuable internship and career opportunities through what it calls an "immersion program" that allows students to obtain first-hand contact with real-world situations, officials said.
The school runs dual-degree programs with Georgia Tech University in the United States and Beijing Foreign Studies University in China. Currently, 400 students from 24 countries - including 30 Koreans - attend SolBridge.
