In what`s gearing up to be one of the biggest charity events this year, the wives of more than 50 ambassadors are hosting a fashion show tomorrow at Samsung Raemian Culture Center.
The dinner and fashion show titled "The Parade of Nations" will see the wives of 43 ambassadors stride down the catwalk dressed in their nation`s traditional clothing. There will also be food from around the world, all prepared by the wives.
The proceeds of the event will go to many different charities in Korea, including the 100-Won-a-day Movement, Jagunari Migrant Workers Center and various children`s charities.
The wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ban Ki-moon will represent Korea with a speech and Kim Yoon-ok, wife of the Mayor of Seoul City, will also participate.
The event will start at 6 p.m. with a reception and then will move on to a standing buffet followed by the fashion show, raffles and an auction.
Many Korean companies and foreign embassies donated the raffle prizes.
The ambassadors` wives have spent six months organizing the event. They hope it will become an annual function.
"We are marketing, we are management, we did everything," said Maria Widjaja Kubheka, wife of the South African ambassador.
With over 400 tickets sold so far, each at 75,000 won, seats are limited but can still be purchased at the Samsung Raemian Cultural Center. For ticket information contact (02) 2226 3304.
