Victoria records 779 new local COVID cases and 2 deaths

Victoria has recorded 779 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and two further deaths. It brings the number of active infections in the state to 8,011, the vast majority of those acquired in the community. Case numbers have been sharply rising, with yesterday's tally of 847 a record-high count.
