Hyundai in SE Asian luxury car market

Hyundai Motor Co. launched the luxury sedan Equus in Vietnam on Wednesday.

The car was unveiled in a ceremony attended by Korean and Vietnamese officials including Minister of Knowledge Economy Choi Kyung-hwan held in Hanoi.

The new Equus, which was launched on the local market in March and in China in August, is the company`s first luxury car in the Southeast Asian market.

In addition, the company introduced the sports sedan Genesis and the Genesis Coupe sports car at the Equus launch ceremony.

The company said that it planned to introduce the compact SUV Tucson ix and the new Sonata sedan to the Vietnamese market early next year to strengthen its lineup in that country.
